2) Social injustice is any form of injustice against parts of society.
3) Apartheid- mistreatment of people based solely on their race In South Africa
Sharia law- the treatment of women under strict Islamic law for everyone in Islamic countries. Women are not considered equal to men e.g. in Afghanistan if a married woman is raped, rather than the man or men being charged, the woman will be imprisoned for adulatory as her evidence is not worth half as much as an a mans.
Caste system- the Hindu caste system was once used to help society run smoothly but was later on misinterpreted and people thought that some castes were better than others which led to the mistreatment of many Dalits (untouchables) in society.
4) It teaches that social injustice is wrong. In theory the Hindu religion teaches you to treat all beings equally, not only humans but also animals, therefore the theory of ahimsa. However, in practise many people use the caste system to judge others and mistreat them.
5) In the Bhagavad Gita, there is a quote from Brahman saying that all beings shall be created equal and they should treat each other equally.
6) This point is trying to say that people are not supposed to mistreat other beings no matter what. It also emphasises the importance of ahimsa.
7) In Hinduism most people respond to unjust treatment by telling people what they should really be doing according to the religion.
8) Some peoples responses to social injustices are to make protests or fight back but they can vary all the way to peacefully explaining it is morally wrong with no one listening to you.
9) Mahatma Gandhi is a famous Hindu who stood up for what he believed was right as he was mistreated in south Africa and was very successful; in spreading his message. This was because he never fought back and said a well known quote which outlines his philosophy well, “An eye for an eye and everyone’s blind.”
